Medical disclaimer
Strong & Rooted is general education, not medical advice. I am not a doctor, a physical therapist, or a dietitian. Nothing here diagnoses, treats, cures or prevents any condition. Talk to your own doctor before starting a new exercise routine or supplement — especially if you are managing a health condition, are pregnant, or have an injury.
Who writes this site
Diane is not a doctor, a physical therapist, or a dietitian. She is a woman who rebuilt her own strength after perimenopause, reads the research carefully, cites it, and says so when nobody actually knows.
That sentence is not modesty and it is not a legal formality. Health content for women over forty is one of the most aggressively monetized categories on the internet, and a great deal of it is written by people implying a clinical authority they do not have. I would rather tell you plainly what I am: a woman who rebuilt her own strength, read a lot of research, and writes down what she found.
How claims on this site are checked
When an article states something about your body — that muscle mass declines after menopause, that resistance training affects bone density, that protein needs change with age — that statement is checked against a mainstream source and the source is linked in a block at the foot of the article. The sources I rely on are the National Institutes of Health, Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic, The Menopause Society, and the peer-reviewed literature.
If a claim cannot be supported, I do not make it. If the evidence is thin or contested, I say so in the article rather than rounding it up to certainty. There is a great deal about perimenopause that is genuinely not well studied, and pretending otherwise would be the fastest way to lose the only thing this site has.
You will not find a “medically reviewed” badge here, because no physician reviews these articles. Claiming one would be a lie, and a small lie about that would tell you everything about the large ones.
What this site never does
- It never diagnoses, treats, cures, or prevents any condition.
- It never promises that a plan will change your weight, your shape, or your hormones.
- It never shows before-and-after photographs, and never will.
- It never recommends a supplement or program I would not hand to my own mother — and where supplements are discussed, the FDA statement below applies.
Please talk to your doctor
Before you start a new exercise routine or take a new supplement, talk to your own doctor. This matters more if you are managing a health condition, recovering from an injury, are pregnant, or are taking medication that interacts with exercise or supplements. Your doctor knows your history. I know mine.
If something on this site hurts, stop doing it. Discomfort is information, not weakness.
Supplements
These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.
Questions
Email hello@strongandrooted.com. If I have got something wrong, I would genuinely like to know, and I will correct it in the article rather than quietly.
